This position manages and coordinates business operation strategies and activities for Fast Lane Motor Parts and Fast Lane Auto Care. This position is responsible for establishing strategic plans for all Fast Lane businesses to achieve revenue, margin, and operational goals; including, but not limited to sales targets, new product placements, and customer growth and retention. This position reports to the COO of McLaughlin Family Companies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Directs and coordinates operation strategies and activities to meet business and profitability growth objectives. Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
Collaborates in the development and implementation of organization policies, practices, procedures, and attainment of operating goals.
Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Drive effective strategies and tactics to increase and expand the current revenue base within each sales channel.
Confers with the Chief Operating Officer and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.
Reviews, analyzes, and prepares reports, records, and directives, and confers with managers/supervisors to obtain data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered.
Analyze actual sales and marketing performance against budgeted sales volume and market penetration levels to determine effectiveness and make changes as necessary to exceed business objectives.
Completes store and sales route operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
Supervise warehouse, delivery, sales route and store personnel by actively recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; and maintains job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising.
Assigns and delegates responsibility for specified work or functional activities. Disseminates policies and objectives to supervisors and staff.
Ensures availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts and maintaining inventories.
Formulates pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; authorizing clearance sales; studying trends. Markets merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.
Directly manage major and critical developing client accounts and coordinate the management of all other accounts.
Reviews and improves sales routing; ensuring efficiency and sales margin.
Manages DOT requirements for sales routes, including driver requirements.
Actively engage in route improvements by conducting route rides.
Ensure vehicle safety and compliance with all DOT regulations.
Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
Promote positive relations with partners, vendors, and distributors while serving as product subject matter expert, both internally and to vendors, customers, and management teams.
Secures merchandise by implementing security systems and measures.
Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.
Maintains the stability and reputation of the business by complying with legal requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field is required.
A minimum of five years’ experience in sales, supervision, leadership and development is recommended. A combination of work experience and education may be substituted.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
Demonstrate excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of DOT requirements of fleet and drivers.
Ability to make decisions and evaluate the risks involved.
