ACCOUNT MANAGER
The Account Manager is a mid-level Inside sales position who serves as the primary relationship owner for an assigned group of client accounts with responsibility for retention and growth. Ensure clients derive maximum value from our services. Prepare implementation plans and lead client on-boarding; present marketing strategy and annual planning to help clients maximize ROI. OUR CANDIDATE MUST RESIDE IN THE KANSAS CITY METROPOLITAN AREA.
This position serves as the primary service contact for clients and is responsible for client satisfaction, including some strategic planning responsibilities. This position is expected to consistently provide excellent customer service and leadership to accounts, as well as represent company goals within the organization to ensure quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Increase sales volume within existing business through account penetration and secure new business
- Calls on assigned territory by phone to previous, existing and prospective customers to solicit advertising orders. Talk with customers on sales floor or by phone to help them promote their business through advertising in print and digital. Intermittent travel possible 10-15% of time.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and customer retention through consistent, productive account calls
- Be responsible for upselling programs, services, and value-added products into current customer base
- Represent the company by consistently demonstrating the understanding and modeling of company’s mission and values
- Displays or demonstrates product and new ideas, using sample ads or other publications, and emphasizes salable features. Stays abreast of and learns about all new applications, products, programs, and services available to customers in the territory and for applying or utilizing them whenever appropriate or timely
- Align the overall corporate solution to the customer’s business needs, challenges, and requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills: writing, editing and presenting
- Build and maintain a consistently strong pipeline. Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet sites, and other sources.
- Quote prices and credit terms and prepare insertions for orders obtained. May assist in collecting money due from accounts as needed.
- Provides print schedule to customer based on knowledge from own firm’s production and delivery schedules. Solicit testimonial letters from satisfied readers and advertisers.
- Prepares CRM reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts. Prepare any additional reports deemed necessary by sales manager.
- Works with sales support and all departments to keep account activities up to date. Submits all completed ads according to production schedules prior to Last Ad Date (LAD, Deadline).
- Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts. Investigates and resolves customer problems.
- Attends all required company training sessions and sales meetings.
- Attends trade shows.
- Possible 10-15% travel
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 2 years successful experience as a direct contributor carrying an individual quota
- Previous outside sales experience or knowledge of the agricultural industry is helpful but not required. Sales and Marketing experience is key.
- Must have digital sales experience selling integrated marketing campaigns including Social, Email, PPC, SEO and Geo Targeting.
- Effective in using virtual meeting technology such as Zoom, Web Ex, Go to Meeting etc.
- Ability and experience selling to Manager levels within the organization
- Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills
- Organization and time management skills
- Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding assigned annual/quarterly goals and targets
- Attentive to forecasting and business reporting responsibilities
- At least an intermediate level in using Microsoft Office products. Especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
