Federal Court Reporter (District Court & Agency) - Washington, DC
Total earning potential: $110,000 to $170,000+ annually (1099 independent contractor, workload dependent). CLFC compensates court reporters through an appearance and attendance fee PLUS retained transcript page revenue and expedited and realtime premiums, so your earnings scale with the work you produce, not a flat hourly wage.
CLFC is building its court reporter roster in the Washington market to support federal district court proceedings, federal administrative hearings, and depositions across CLFC's nationwide legal-support practice. This is recurring work, not a single engagement.
How the compensation works:
What you will do: produce a complete, accurate, verbatim record of district court proceedings, federal administrative hearings, and depositions; deliver certified transcripts within federal turnaround tiers; provide realtime output where required; and maintain exhibit custody and strict confidentiality.
Required qualifications:
Strongly preferred: Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR) and/or Registered Merit Reporter (RMR); federal court experience; realtime certification.
Engagement: Independent Contractor (1099). Assignments are accepted individually and you remain free to accept or decline based on availability and location. Travel reimbursed per assignment terms.
