    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Under the supervision of the Director of Development, the Grants Coordinator is responsible for generating funding proposals, applications and stewardship reports, and researching and identifying prospects to secure private funding for the organization’s operating budget, capital needs, and programmatic priorities. This position prepares and produces proposals, reports, and development materials — from initial draft to final submission — under the strategic direction of the Director of Development and the Chief Development & Marketing Officer. The Grants Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining detailed records of all research, solicitations, and transactions. This position works closely with programs, operations and finance staff to develop proposals, solicitations, and budgets to ensure performance compliance with funding awards.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Prepare and produce grant proposals, letters, solicitations, and reports under the strategic direction of the Director of Development and Chief Development & Marketing Officer.
    • Create, monitor, and administer grants and reporting calendar, including both internal and external deadlines and requirements.
    • Research, identify, qualify, and maintain a comprehensive list of prospective funders on local, regional and national levels, as well as foundation, corporate, and community organization sources.
    • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the organization, including mission, vision, values, history, programs and services, and strategic plans.
    • Collaborate with staff to gain a thorough understanding of ongoing program/project needs, goals, objectives, and outcomes.
    • Create, edit, and archive boilerplate narratives, case statements, impact reports, and organizational achievements.
    • Monitor incoming gifts to identify restricted and unrestricted grants to ensure accurate gift entry and to initiate the award cycle.
    • Provide data to assist with annual revenue projections and monitor those projections on a monthly basis, or more frequently as necessary.
    • Participate, as needed, in activities to maintain and develop relationships with funders, including stewardship visits, phone calls, award receptions, and check presentations.
    • Assist the development department with special projects and event execution as needed, including open houses and fundraising events.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, communications, English or a closely related field, along with two years of professional experience in grant writing and grant coordination. Demonstrated success in raising significant funds through written proposals and solicitations.

    QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; in particular, the ability to understand, organize, and synthesize detailed information into compelling, written narratives.
    • Ability to proactively, effectively, and efficiently obtain information to develop cases for support, including program metrics and research, both internally and externally. Familiarity and experience soliciting support for programmatic priorities, operations, and capital needs.
    • Experience maintaining brand guidelines and ensuring consistency in language, style, tone, and formatting.
    • Proficiency in navigating multiple projects with strong attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Practice sound judgment and exercise discretion with confidential information.
    • Familiarity with a CRM system; experience with Salesforce preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel, as well as grant research tools.
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on tasks with minimal supervision.
