    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY

    Feeding San Diego operates an innovative and forward-thinking decentralized food rescue program. The Food Rescue Coordinator will assist in the day to day management of food donors as it relates to pickups, data collection and volume analysis. This position requires regular communication with food donors including grocery stores, retailers, manufacturers, wholesale distributors, farmers, restaurants and more. The Food Rescue Coordinator will train donors in proper food rescue practices.

    YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: 

    • Providing professional, responsive and appreciative customer service to all food donors, volunteers, food recipients and co-workers
    • Conducting face-to-face visits and meetings with current and prospective donors on a daily basis (10 visits a week, on average) to secure more food with emphasis on high-demand, culturally appropriate and nutritious products
    • Maintaining current and accurate data in multiple platforms, regularly pull and analyze reports
    • Collaborating with other departments in order to resolve food safety and/or pickup concerns
    • Assisting with regular food rescue trainings as well as distribution of equipment and collateral
    • All other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

    WHAT YOU MUST BRING:

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    MINIMUM:

    High School diploma or GED

    A minimum of 2 years of professional experience with competing priorities, deadlines and multi-tasking

    Experience in data collection and analysis

    Commitment to FSD’s mission: “Ending Hunger through Food Rescue”

    Conversant in Spanish

    Must have exceptional time management and organization skills and successfully balance progress on strategic projects with day to day responsibilities

    PREFERRED:

    Bachelor’s degree

    Experience in the food service industry

    Strong proficiency in Windows 8, Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook

    Experience working in a constituent records management system (CRM,) preferably Salesforce and/or Smartsheet

    Food handler’s safety certificate

    Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

    Bilingual in English and Spanish

    Located in Central San Diego

    LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

    Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid California commercial driver’s license including continuous proof of a satisfactory driving record and personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agency’s insurance carrier standards.

    PHYSICAL, MENTAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Sit and/or stand for extended periods, walk, bend at the waist and knees, kneel and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity

    Regularly lifts, carries and balances objects weighing up to 50 pounds

    Preform work in a cooler and freezer
