    Job Description

    Under the direction of the Programs Manager, the CalFresh Coordinator will work to build the capacity of FSD’s CalFresh Outreach program in the community through project development and implementation, relationship building, technical support, intern management and resource development.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The following duties and responsibilities are those considered to be essential but do not represent all job functions that may be required to be performed by this position. Other comparable duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Evening and weekend work required as determined by operational needs or as assigned.

    • Work with the Programs Manager to identify gaps in services to target populations and strategize models of outreach to address the need
    • Act as a liaison between FSD and county Health Coverage Access personnel to advocate for client related case issues
    • Organize and facilitate monthly same-day workshops in conjunction with the county Health Coverage Access and partnering agencies
    • Build FSD’s indirect outreach model by supporting partner agency application submissions
    • Recruit, train and manage a core of CalFresh Case Management interns to assist with application assistance
    • Manage monthly data tracking and evaluation
    • Develop working knowledge of CalFresh program rules and regulations
    • Develop, maintain and distribute local, culturally competent CalFresh resources and outreach materials
    • Oversee and participate in direct application assistance and case management
    • Represent FSD at taskforce meetings and other community based meetings as needed
    • All other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE

    Required:

    • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with members of underrepresented groups
    • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience with competing priorities, deadlines and multi-tasking

    Preferred:

    • Bilingual in English and Spanish, or English and another Non-English language.
    • Educational background in field related to Social Service, Public Policy, Social Work or comparable course of study
    • A minimum of 2+ years of work experience in food distribution programs, food security and hunger-relief work, federal assistance programs, or case management

    Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of this position.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • General knowledge of nonprofit organizational practices
    • A professional demeanor with an aptitude for analytical thinking and problem solving
    • Responsible, well organized, and demonstrate initiative
    • Proficiency in PC and Microsoft Office Suite, Internet research
    • Must be accurate and detail oriented, possess strong organizational and time management skills and must possess the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a complex and fast paced environment
    • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Must have excellent customer service skills
    • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and public speaking skills
    • Proven track record of success
    • Must be able to work with a wide range of people from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and origins
