Preschool Teacher Fern Academy Educational ChildCare - Chino, CA 91710 Starting Hourly Wage: Starting $13 / hour
Fern Academy Educational ChildCare’s goal is to encourage a love of learning in children by thoughtfully designing and implementing developmentally appropriate, child-led activities that promote children to ask questions, experiment, and explore their world on a daily basis. We utilize constructivist theory and best practices from progressive curriculums like Woldorf, Reggio Emilia, and Montessori, as primary resources for our curriculum development.
REQUIREMENTS:
-Minimum 12 core Early Childhood Education college credits/units required as a fully-qualified teacher. Transcripts will be required.
CORE Courses:
• Program Curriculum
• Child / Human Growth Development
• Child Family Community
-TB Test, CPR Certificate (Adult / Pediatrics / First-Aid), Live Scan clearance required prior hiring
-Bilingual preferred (knowledge of Spanish or Chinese) but not required
-Minimum 2 or more years teaching experience with preschool age
-Be of sufficient physical, mental and emotional health to perform job duties satisfactorily
-Must be able to lift up to 40lbs, stand 95% of the day, stoop/bend down to a child's level, as well as perform all other typical physical activity required while caring for young children
-Possess skills, attributes and characteristics conducive to and suitable for dealing with children
-Must speak English well enough to communicate with children, staff, management and parents
-Must be able to read and write English well enough to prepare, complete and maintain administrative forms and records as required by current governmental regulations and company policies and procedures
-Must have reliable transportation
-Willing to attend staff/parent events and complete training classes as required by State regulations
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Plan activities that are innovative, interesting, child-led and consistent with the inquiry generated in the classroom
• Responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, and décor of the classroom environment. This will include sharing the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff.
• Maintain the Reggio-inspired environment that our philosophy fosters
• Communicate effectively with parents during daily interactions, parent teacher conferences and through written communication.
• Regularly maintain displays of student artwork. Ensuring that art is current and represents what students are currently studying
• Monitor and assess student progress.
• Maintain close communication with the director and parent regarding student issues, conferencing as deemed necessary.
• Establish a non-punitive method of classroom discipline, seeking positive rather than negative methods to correct student behavior.
• Maintain a structure in the classroom that fosters positive classroom management
• Participate in team meetings, staff meeting
