Our client is a growing metals recycling organization seeking an experienced Ferrous Scrap Buyer to support scrap procurement and trading activities throughout the region. This position will focus on sourcing, purchasing, marketing, and positioning ferrous scrap while developing strong relationships with suppliers, consumers, mills, foundries, and industry partners.
The successful candidate will possess direct experience within the ferrous scrap recycling industry and have a strong understanding of scrap markets, pricing dynamics, logistics, and material flow optimization.
Responsibilities:
Manage and develop an assigned ferrous scrap trading territory
Source, purchase, market, and position ferrous scrap materials within the region
Build and maintain relationships with scrap suppliers, consumers, mills, foundries, processors, and recycling partners
Identify opportunities to optimize scrap flows, material quality, pricing, and freight costs
Monitor ferrous scrap market conditions, pricing trends, and industry developments
Collaborate with internal operations, recycling, logistics, and trading teams to maximize profitability and efficiency
Support vendor management initiatives and process improvement efforts
Analyze supply and demand trends to identify new procurement opportunities
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and purchasing agreements with suppliers
Maintain accurate records related to purchasing, trading, and supplier activity
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience required
3+ years of experience in ferrous scrap buying, ferrous scrap trading, metals recycling, or scrap procurement
Experience purchasing, sourcing, marketing, or trading ferrous scrap materials
Knowledge of ferrous scrap grades, market pricing, supply chains, and recycling operations
Experience developing relationships with suppliers, mills, foundries, processors, or industrial scrap generators
Ability to analyze market conditions and make sound purchasing decisions
