    Job Description

    Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional

    The QIDP provides habilitation management services necessary to ensure a person’s progress towards goals set for them through the person service planning process and that the outcomes specifically identified in the persons individual service plan are measured and considered in the development of the person’s subsequent plan.

    The QIDP ensures Department of Disability Services requirements legally mandated by the District of Columbia and DDS related to program participants served, and the delivery of programs and services to them. Consequently, the QIDP must be knowledgeable about and proficient in the application of all DDS requirements which the must comply.

    DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provides supportive counseling, training, and community integration to individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or behavioral issues.

    • Assists or instructs consumers on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).

    • Provides care to consumers as defined by their ISP (Individualized Service Plan).

    • Interact with consumers in a professional manner adhering to all human rights guidelines.

    • Monitors the administration of medication as necessary.

    • Completes all required clinical documentation including progress notes, incident reports, and data tracking according to agency policies.

    • Follows Community Residences Health, Safety, and Emergency guidelines.

    • Performs and/or assists in household maintenance to maintain a safe and positive environment. Must complete all requirements of the environment checklist daily. The checklist would include cooking, cleaning, fire safety, and shopping.

    • Communicates effectively with all community and company contacts.

    • Assist consumers in meal preparation to include cooking, eating with consumers, eating similar food, as well as role modeling appropriate interpersonal and social behaviors at mealtime.

    • Follow program-specific guidelines for consumer oversight and supervision.

    • Maintains contact with consumers' family members, program managers, and appropriate community contacts.

    • Assists/Monitors consumers' medications, physical health, and mental health as appropriate.

    • Performs work as directed by supervisor.

    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must possess experience working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities or other developmental disabilities, must satisfy all requirements to be recognized by DDS as a QIDP.

    EXPERIENCE: Must have at least three (3) years of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities or other developmental disabilities.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to assist DSP staff with hygiene needs of consumers (toileting and showering), includes positioning, lifting and bending.

    • Must be able to push a wheelchair.

    • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

    • Must have the ability to operate a computer

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • QIDP: 2 years (Preferred)

    • training working with individuals with disabilities: 3 years (Preferred)

    Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Special Education, Psychology or related field

    • Must possess the ability to work independently, as well as, part of a team.

    SCHEDULE:

    • Monday to Friday

    • Weekends
