    Job Overview

    The actuarial intern will support the actuarial department in various pet insurance (a P&C line of business) pricing related projects including rate indications, rate filings, and risk segmentation plan updates. The intern will play a key role in supporting Fetch’s profitability and growth objectives. The intern will primarily leverage SQL, Excel, and R in the intern’s day to day responsibilities.

    This is a part-time (20 hours per week) fully-remote (work from home) position with flexible hours.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Pull data in support of actuarial rate indications and rating factor updates using SQL
    • Create actuarial rate filing exhibits in Excel
    • Support the development of revised rating factors in R and Excel
    • Assist in portfolio optimization related projects in Excel as needed
    • Perform analysis to assess book impact of new rates and rating factors in Excel
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Passed at least one CAS/SOA actuarial exam (this is a hard requirement – candidates without at least one passed CAS/SOA actuarial exam will not be considered)
    • Currently pursuing or have already completed a Bachelor’s degree program in a quantitative discipline (e.g. mathematics, statistics, data science, actuarial science, computer science, finance, accounting, economics, physics, or engineering)
    • Intermediate proficiency in Excel is required
    • Intermediate proficiency in SQL is desirable
    • Elementary proficiency in R is desirable
    • Elementary proficiency in VBA is desirable
    • Ability to apply initiative and judgment to define and perform tasks, sometimes complex, and sees the bigger picture
    • Good verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
    • Excellent team player; proven ability to apply innovative ideas and critical thinking
    • Able to anticipate needs, innovate and flourish in a high-volume, fast paced environment
    • This position is a part-time internship position paid on an hourly basis
