  • Responsibilities

    Feyen Zylstra is looking for a VIRTUAL DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION (VDC) LAYOUT COORDINATOR for our GRAND RAPIDS, MI location. This is a full-time position, reporting to a VDC manager. This role is responsible for the project-specific overall direction, and identifying the best modeling practices for the overall layout of our electrical systems. Ensures consistency with company strategy, commitments, and project goals.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Champion layout on all projects utilizing VDC processes, standards & methods 

    • Review with Project team throughout process to maintain team alignment

    • Coordinate with BIM Coordinators & Detailers on

      • Layout of conduit systems and electrical rooms
      • Developing fabrication opportunities for the one-line conduit system
    • Communicate/Coordinate with project foreman to fully develop all aspects of the layout and installation execution plan

    • Oversee the development of installation drawings & documentation

    • Lead weekly call skype meetings throughout the VDC process along with the fabrication & project schedules

    • Work to refine our current fabrication means and methods by seeking out feedback from field personnel

    • Conduct project site visits with project foreman

      • Evaluate installation procedures compared to the install documentation
      • Address fabrication opportunities for improvement
      • Explore and develop new fabrication opportunities
    • BIM 360 Field

    • Task tracking

    • Equipment updates

    • Issue Log maintenance

    • Coordinate with VDC Manager on Project Control System status

    • Communicate with VDC Manager & Supervisor on issue tracking statuses

     

    KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Electrical Journeyperson license required.

    • 5 or more years of relevant electrical experience.

    • Demonstrate knowledge related to NEC compliant electrical installations.

    • Bluebeam experience preferred, but not required. Technological savviness is a must.

    • Communication skills – conduct project calls, drive the meeting, fielding feedback, work with field leadership on timeline.

    • Experience related to innovative problem solving solutions.

    • Knowledge of unique means and methods for electrical systems

    • Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change management

    • Proven involvement in successful project layouts

    • Willingness to travel as needed to project sites and out-of-state branches for projects.
