The Fiber Technician II is responsible for all aspects of Fiber including but not limited to Cutting, Terminating, Inspecting, Packaging and Labeling.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DAILY TASKS
Maintain a clean, neat, professional appearance… Wearing the company uniform during all project related duties unless specifically directed otherwise by a superior.
Cabling & Termination
Copper termination skills
Termination LC, CS, SC, FC,,,connectors, for both multi-mode& single-mode fiber
Terminate simplex & duplex jumper cord
Install fan out kits including buffer tube
Terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g. AFL/Corning/Commscope)
Terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g. Altos)
Terminate indoor tight buffered multimode and single-mode fiber
Calculate end to end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards for multimode & single-mode fiber
Testing and Troubleshooting
Splicing
Complete all paperwork accurately and on time specifically: material transfers, work orders, change orders, others as required.
Understands, adheres to, and promotes the Environmental, Health & Safety policies of SGT Telecom.
Attend classes and training sessions, as requested by SGT management, to obtain and maintain vendor certifications.
Other duties as assigned by Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 1 years’ experience with terminate, test or polishing of fiber optical cables.
Valid Drivers License
Finger & wrist dexterity & hand/eye coordination.
Ability to pass pre-employment screening
Ability to use small hand tools.
Ability to use power tools.
Climbing of stairs, ladders.
Relationship building skills– ability to work within a dynamic team setting and provide role model leadership to SGT workforce
Communication Skills– Demonstrate communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, to help facilitate the sharing of information between people within the company and our clients.
Must be able to work alone and with a team.
| PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 40 lbs., and drive a vehicle.
Job is usually performed in indoor/outdoor environments under multiple environmental conditions.
Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals & solvents; mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards.
General hours of Monday through Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm. But ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required.
Must be able to work in the United States.
