    Job Description

    Job Summary :

    Assist in development and coordinate the training programs for all Meridian Plant manufacturing staff. Oversee position trainers and personally carry out technical training on extrusion lines. Ensure all documentation is tracked correctly. Establish training protocols and training manuals for all orientation training and Pay for Skills training requirements of Inspector stackers, extrusion operators, and secondary equipment training. Develop continuous improvement methods to ensure highest levels of OTJ training is maintained to the highest levels. Provide training reports to senior management and Fiberon Safety/Training manager, as required. Assist Meridian Plant production in extrusion processing problems, as well as working with product development, engineering, Process Technicians and Maintenance in the development of new/improved methods.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

    Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

    The following is a list of essential job duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as needed by the Manager

    • Oversee all aspects of Meridian Plant manufacturing; orientation, PFS and OTJ training requirements of staff
    • Maintain training documentation of all associates and ensure training manuals etc. are maintained
    • Oversee time and attendance and adherence to policies of Fiberon staff trainers
    • Assist in development of new extrusion processes and the improvement of existing processes. With an emphasis on ensuring all relevant associates are trained to new and improved methods
    • Coordinate the Meridian Plant training departments Safety & 5S-
    • Assist in the development of continuous improvement projects.
    • It is a responsibility to always work in a safe manner, as well as abiding by all company policies and rules.
    • Use and read measuring instruments… calipers, micrometers, bore gauge.
    • Liaise with outside vendors, senior management and development department for the installation and validation of all Meridian Plant new or improved processing equipment

    Qualifications

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

    Language Ability

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Need to be able to communicate well with Production Leads and Supervisors as well as Extruder Operators.

    Math

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations. Must have the ability to read Production reports, read prints for rail revisions, and sizer set up. Ability to critically think through step by step processes and document.

    Computer Skills:

    Excellent knowledge of computer, software Word & Excel.

    Certificates and Licenses:

    Ability to work 12 hours shifts in a continuous manufacturing operation.

    Education/Experience:

    • Requires a high school diploma/GED.
    • 3-5 years’ experience understanding of extrusion tools and extrusion process.
    • Experienced in SOP work instruction and one point lesson development.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. Noise level is moderate, but ear protection is required in the Tooling areas as well as all Production areas.
