TITLE EXAMINER/ABSTRACTOR

Fidelity National Title, the nationwide leading Title Insurance Underwriter, is looking to add a Title Examiner/Abstractor to our Suffolk County office in Riverhead, NY.  The ideal candidate will have experience searching public records and examining titles to determine legal condition of primarily residential property. Copy or summarize recorded documents which affect the condition of title to the property.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Examines chain of title primarily for residential properties
• Abstracts and analyzes records, such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books, to determine ownership and legal restrictions and to verify legal description of property and completeness of records
• Submitting and ability to correct documents for recording

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong detail / quality orientation
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong problem solving skills
• Knowledge of legal terms used in title documents
• Able to read and decipher legal descriptions relating to title orders
• Willingness to learn and help out where needed
