Position Summary:
The Field Engineer will support the execution of construction activities for the new packaging facility in Ohio. This individual will serve as a key liaison between the client-side engineering team, construction managers, and contractors to ensure scope, quality, and safety requirements are met in the field. The role focuses on field coordination, technical issue resolution, documentation, and ensuring adherence to Client procedures and cGMP expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the Construction Manager in overseeing daily field activities and verifying alignment with project plans and specifications.
• Monitor contractor performance and installation progress; escalate any issues impacting schedule, safety, or quality.
• Validate field dimensions, layout, and system tie-ins; proactively address field clashes and RFIs.
• Ensure the field execution adheres to JHAs, method statements, and job-site safety protocols.
• Support review of construction documents (IFC drawings, submittals, RFIs) and facilitate field implementation accordingly.
• Provide technical clarifications to contractors and suppliers as needed.
• Coordinate with Process/Packaging, Facilities, and Automation engineers for field implementation of utilities, equipment skids, and line installations.
• Maintain accurate daily field reports including manpower, weather, progress, and field issues.
• Assist in tracking changes, redlines, and as-built documentation to support project turnover.
• Coordinate punch list walkdowns and ensure timely resolution of deficiencies.
• Facilitate communication between EPCM firms, trade contractors, and client-side stakeholders.
• Participate in construction meetings, lookahead sessions, and planning discussions.
• Support startup, commissioning, and transition activities as construction wraps.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent technical discipline.
Experience:
• 3–6 years in construction or engineering roles within manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotech, or industrial projects.
• Previous experience supporting field execution of capital projects ($50M+) strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with cGMP, cleanroom, utilities, and packaging lines a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
• Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail in a fast-paced field environment.
• Effective communicator with the ability to coordinate across disciplines and vendors.
• Proficient in construction documentation, drawing review, and field QA/QC practices.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6 or MS Project) desirable.
Work Environment:
• Field-based role on an active construction site with daily walking, climbing, and PPE use.
• May require extended hours or weekend presence during key phases or shutdown windows.
