The Field / Project Engineer will serve as both a field and project engineer, working closely with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents. This position will also oversee quality control, safety compliance, and the maintenance of the company's fleet of pickup trucks, heavy equipment, and dump trucks.
Key Responsibilities
Provide field engineering support for multiple construction projects.
Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and project documents.
Perform site visits to verify construction activities and document field conditions.
Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with project coordination and problem-solving.
Manage project documentation, RFIs, submittals, and as-built information.
Monitor construction quality and ensure work complies with plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
Conduct quality control inspections and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Support and promote jobsite safety by performing regular safety audits and ensuring OSHA compliance.
Coordinate safety meetings and maintain required safety documentation.
Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules for company pickup trucks, heavy equipment, trailers, and dump trucks.
Coordinate equipment repairs, inspections, licensing, and service records.
Track equipment utilization and maintain accurate maintenance logs.
Assist with project scheduling, planning, procurement, and closeout activities.
Perform other engineering and operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
Master's degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus.
3–7 years of construction engineering or field engineering experience preferred.
Experience with commercial, structural, demolition, or civil construction projects.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, quality control, and OSHA safety standards.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD, or similar construction management software.
Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites throughout the Chicagoland area.
