Wright Technical Services is supporting a search for a Service Engineer to join a highly technical service team supporting advanced industrial heating and power conversion equipment across North America.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, working directly with customers, and solving complex electrical and electronic system issues in real-world environments. This role will support equipment used across multiple critical manufacturing industries including aerospace, automotive, medical manufacturing, and specialty materials processing.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical and power electronics equipment
- Commission new equipment and support system startups at customer sites
- Provide remote troubleshooting and technical phone support to customers
- Document service activities, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in service CRM systems
- Support preventative maintenance programs and emergency service calls
- Train customer operators and maintenance personnel on equipment operation and maintenance
- Work closely with senior service engineers during training and development phases
- Interpret electrical signals and system performance using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and insulation testers
- Support systems utilizing 3-phase power, power conversion systems, and high-frequency electrical outputs
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with industrial electrical, electronics, or automation systems
- Working knowledge of electrical troubleshooting fundamentals and OHM’s Law concepts
- Experience using electrical test equipment such as multimeters and preferably oscilloscopes
- Basic understanding of industrial control systems and PLC fundamentals
- Mechanical aptitude including familiarity with pneumatics or general machinery systems
- Ability to logically troubleshoot systems using data, diagrams, and visual inspection
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with customers
- Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 70–80%)
Preferred Experience
- Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or related technical field
- Experience with power electronics, rectifier circuits, inverter circuits, or VFD systems
- Field service or commissioning experience
- Experience troubleshooting high power industrial equipment
- Military electronics training or equivalent hands-on technical experience
- Experience documenting technical findings and service work in CRM or service software systems
Travel & Schedule
- Approximately 70–80% travel across North America
- Occasional short notice travel may be required
- Weekend travel possible with premium compensation
