    Job Summary

    We are seeking a skilled Robotics / Software Validation Technician (Field Service / Automation Technician) to join our Validation Department in West Chester, OH. This hands-on role is critical in the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, calibration, and validation of robotic systems and automated equipment at customer sites across North America. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong PLC and process control experience who enjoys both technical problem-solving and customer interaction. This position requires extensive travel (up to 70%) and the ability to represent us professionally at customer facilities.

    Responsibilities

    • Install, configure, calibrate, and validate robotic systems, conveyors, pneumatics, sensors, and related automation equipment
    • Program, troubleshoot, and support PLC systems with a focus on Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) platforms
    • Perform logic troubleshooting, point forcing, safety overrides, and system checkouts during commissioning
    • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, software, and process control issues (valves, pumps, compressors, etc.)
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams
    • Calibrate instruments and map IP addresses while logging into PLCs
    • Validate electrical and pneumatic devices to meet customer acceptance standards
    • Maintain configuration control of PLC source code and assist in control solution development
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
    • Train customer operators and technicians on equipment functions and safety protocols
    • Serve as the primary on-site and remote technical interface for Fameccanica equipment
    • Gather customer feedback and requirements to support retrofits, upgrades, and refurbishments
    • Report technical insights from the field back to the engineering and technical teams
    • Support spare parts sales opportunities during customer visits
    • Maintain detailed service records, repair logs, and maintenance schedules

    Requirements

    • Ability to log into PLCs, map IP addresses, and perform instrument calibration
    • Strong troubleshooting skills for PLC logic and process control systems (valves, pumps, compressors, etc.)
    • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on mechanical repairs
    • Solid understanding of electrical, controls, and automation systems
    • Professional customer-facing skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients
    • Self-starter with strong independent troubleshooting ability and root-cause methodology
    • Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively (up to 70% domestically and occasionally internationally)
    • Comfortable working in industrial/manufacturing environments

    Preferred Requirements

    • Experience as an IC&E (Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical) technician, ideally from power generation or heavy industrial environments
    • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation PLCs
    • Experience with industrial robots (Fanuc preferred, but experience with ABB, KUKA, or Yaskawa is also valued)
    • Associate degree or technical certification in Robotics, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related field
    • 2+ years of hands-on experience in robotics, automation systems, or field service
    • Clear technical writing skills for documentation and operating instructions

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Compensation: $70,000 – $130,000 annually (depending on experience)
      • Technicians (non-degreed): Typically paid hourly, up to ~$35–$40/hr
      • Engineers (with advanced degree): Salaried
