Overview
Power Generation & Distribution Services (PGDS) is hiring Field Service Technicians at the I, II, and III levels to support electrical testing, substation maintenance, commissioning, and industrial power projects across the United States.
If you enjoy travel, hands-on electrical work, troubleshooting, and working in industrial environments, this is an opportunity to build a long-term career in the power industry.
We are looking for motivated technicians ranging from entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude to experienced field technicians with substation and commissioning experience.
95% Domestic Travel Required
This is a full-time travel position. Candidates must be comfortable traveling extensively throughout the United States.
This role regularly includes: • Multi-day and multi-week travel assignments • Overnight hotel stays • Working away from home for extended periods • Indoor and outdoor industrial environments • Fast-paced field service schedules
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy travel, prefer field work over office work, and want hands-on technical experience across a variety of job sites.
What You'll Do
Depending on experience level, technicians may: • Perform circuit breaker testing and inspections • Conduct insulation resistance and grounding tests • Support or perform protective relay testing • Assist with generator startup and commissioning • Troubleshoot industrial electrical systems • Support PLC and VFD verification activities • Complete digital testing documentation and reports • Work safely around energized electrical equipment • Travel to customer sites nationwide
Technician I – Entry Level
Qualifications: • 0–2 years of electrical or industrial experience • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn • Basic computer skills • Strong work ethic and safety mindset
Technical school graduates and military electrical experience are encouraged to apply.
Technician II – Intermediate Level
Qualifications: • 2–4 years of electrical, industrial, or field service experience • Ability to read electrical schematics and single-line diagrams • Experience with electrical testing and troubleshooting • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Technician III – Senior Level
Qualifications: • 4–7+ years of electrical, commissioning, substation, or industrial power experience • Strong troubleshooting ability • Experience working in industrial or utility power environments • Ability to lead testing activities with minimal supervision • Advanced technical and field decision-making capability
Required Qualifications
• Ability to travel 95% domestically • Ability to lift 50 lbs • Valid driver’s license preferred • Comfortable using laptops and digital reporting tools • Ability to work in industrial and outdoor environments
