Job Summary
- Read and interpret project start up plans, prints, drawings, or job write-ups and compare to what has been designed and built, checking for any discrepancies, errors, problems or potential problems or questions.
- Field telephone calls from customers and determine need and/or problem by interpreting their questions and asking for pertinent information. Advise customer on troubleshooting and attempt to solve their problem over the phone.
- Travel to job sites as needed and assist in start-up and/or field test of product for customer. Using company guidelines, adapt usual testing methods for on-site applications. Communicate appropriate information to customer and answer questions as needed.
- Travel to job sites as needed and provide trouble-shooting services to solve errors, problems or potential problems of product on site. Communicate appropriate information to customer and answer questions as needed.
- Communicate all findings to necessary company personnel. Prepare, create and distribute appropriate testing reports. Obtain acceptance documents from customer as necessary.
- Assist in the testing of electrical controls in the Electrical Test Area when not traveling.
- Assist with load testing as needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma, G.E.D. or applicable on-the-job experience.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Further formal education in basic electronics or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of parallel to utility systems, generator cross current systems and the paralleling of two or more generators, synchronizers, governors, protective relays and other, related electrical and electronic fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret schematics, plans, drawings, prints or similar job write-ups and how they apply to design or product.
- Strong knowledge of programmable logic controls and generators of all sizes and their relationships to diesel or gas engines.
- General computer literacy.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing to customers of all kinds and with all levels within the company. Good listening skills.
- Above average mechanical aptitude and ability to work with his or her hands.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and able to crouch, stoop, push, pull, grasp, bend, lean, reach and climb.
- Ability to tolerate outdoor weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain or snow.
- Must be self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and able to work independently with a high degree of self-confidence.
- Ability to work as part of a team, with a high degree of enthusiasm and commitment.
- Must be willing and able to travel, including out of the country, and work overtime as needed.
