Field Survey Technician / Survey Crew Lead

Overview
We are a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering and surveying firm seeking a highly motivated Field Survey Professional to join our growing survey team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on responsibility, thinks critically in the field, and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work with minimal supervision.
Our survey group supports primarily municipal and public-sector projects and utilizes modern equipment, advanced scanning technologies, and integrated workflows to deliver reliable results. What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA, and construction stakeout surveys
- Lead or operate as part of a fully robotic survey crew
- Independently plan and execute daily field activities
- Conduct survey calculations, boundary resolution, and deed research
- Coordinate with office staff and other crews to ensure smooth project execution
- Utilize advanced technologies including:
- Robotic total stations and GPS
- Terrestrial scanning
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
Support municipal projects such as:
- Roadway and right-of-way surveys
- Utility and stormwater mapping
- School and public facility surveys
- Contribute to high-quality deliverables that integrate with Civil 3D and Carlson workflows
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on field surveying experience (municipal experience strongly preferred)
- Ability to work independently, think through problems, and make sound decisions in the field
- Strong understanding of why survey work is performed, not just how
- Experience with boundary resolution, deed plotting, and survey calculations
- Comfortable working with modern survey equipment and technology
- Dependable, driven, and takes ownership of work
- Someone who demonstrates grit, perseverance, and pride in their craft

Preferred (Not Required)
- Survey degree or coursework
- CST certification
- Experience with Civil 3D, Carlson, Trimble software
- Interest in mentoring or supporting junior staff
