    Job Summary:

    Ecological Associates, Inc. (EAI) is an environmental consulting firm headquartered in Jensen Beach, Florida, with an office in Titusville, Florida, that provides a broad range of biological and ecological services throughout Florida. Field Technicians perform field work and provide support for a variety of projects, and typically work up to 30 hours per week with an expected ratio of 80% field and 20% office work during a typical week.

    The Field Technician is an entry-level position to support environmental assessment and monitoring projects for both private and public sector clients. The Field Technician is expected to have excellent field data collection and data entry skills (i.e., attention to detail), be self-motivated and conscientious with a strong work ethic, and have the ability to meet deliverable deadlines within the expected timeframes. Field staff must be able to follow complex instructions and communicate candidly and professionally with others, sometimes under adverse field conditions (e.g., inclement weather, biting insects, etc.).

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    None.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    Performance of monitoring and field surveys.

    Data collection, entry, and verification.

    Assists with the preparation, ordering, and maintenance of field equipment.

    Assists with the preparation of reports and related project documents.

    Tracks deadlines/deliverables and ensures consistency with standard operating procedures and scopes of work.

    Other tasks are assigned as needed to support new projects and individual professional development.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    Able to work independently and as part of a team.

    Good organizational and record keeping skills with attention to detail.

    Ability to meet deadlines within the expected timeframes.

    Good communication and time management skills

    Microsoft Office and Smartsheet experience is preferred.

    Travel occasionally for short periods of time (i.e. 2 weeks).

    Must possess a clean driving record.

    Able to follow standard operating procedures for multiple pieces of equipment.

    Education and Experience:

    Associate’s degree required.

    Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    Two years or less of related experience preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    Able to work outdoors in extreme conditions (long hours, inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, biting insects).

    Perform work on unpaved, uneven surfaces (tripping hazards).

    Perform work in, on, and around water (canals, rivers, lakes, oceans, etc.).

    Must be able to stand, bend, sit, lift, and drive.

    Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

    Pay Classification:

    Part-time, Hourly, Non-exempt, Benefit eligible
