Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Water Utility Field Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the water distribution systems and related infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
- Perform installation, maintenance, service lines, valves, hydrants, and other distribution system components.
- Conduct routine inspections of water facilities and infrastructure to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Leak Detection and Repair:
- Utilize leak detection equipment to identify leaks and perform necessary repairs, minimizing water loss and service interruptions.
- Respond to emergency calls regarding water main breaks, leaks, and other urgent issues.
Water Quality Monitoring:
- Collect water samples at various points in the distribution system for testing and analysis.
- Work closely with laboratory personnel to monitor water quality and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inventory of supplies.
- Prepare reports and submit documentation as required by company policies and regulatory agencies.
Customer Service:
- Interact professionally with residents and businesses regarding water service complaints and inquiries.
- Educate the public on water conservation practices and proper maintenance of customer service lines.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal and community safety.
- Stay updated on relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in the water utility industry.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Recommended high school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in water utility operations is preferred.
Certifications:
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Certification or training in water distribution systems and backflow prevention is not necessary but a plus.
Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers and the public.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in a variety of conditions, including confined spaces, and near moving vehicles.
