    Field Underwriter, Field Reporting Specialist (Full-Time)

    Location: Bay or Walton County (local residency required) Reports To: Field Operations Manager Employment Type: Full-Time, Commission-Based (1099 Contractor)

    Summary

    Disaster Smart Consulting, Inc. (DSCI) is seeking a Field Reporting Specialist to conduct professional and timely underwriting surveys. This role requires independent work, efficient navigation within an assigned territory, and direct interaction with reviewers, insurance agency personnel, and policyholders. The ideal candidate maintains a professional demeanor and appearance in all interactions.

    Key Responsibilities

    Accurately measure the exterior perimeter of structures.

    Objectively observe and document interior construction finishes, materials, and conditions.

    Accurately assess the condition and maintenance of structures.

    Identify and document liability exposures and hazards.

    Conduct objective observations of roof coverings.

    Perform accurate and objective policyholder interviews.

    Ensure accurate and complete submission of diagrams, photos, orders, and reports.

    Consistently meet or exceed productivity targets.

    This role involves significant outdoor work, requiring comfort with varying weather conditions (rain, snow, ice, extreme heat, and cold) for extended periods. Candidates must be physically fit and capable of:

    Walking, standing, and sitting for long durations.

    Maintaining balance and working on uneven terrain.

    Using and holding a telescoping camera pole overhead throughout the day.

    Carrying and climbing an inspection ladder.

    Managing potentially long commutes in both rural and urban settings.

    Travel

    Daily travel is required within the assigned service area of Bay and Walton County. Occasional overnight travel to other cities may be requested on a voluntary basis.

    Qualifications

    Required Education & Experience

    High school diploma or GED.

    Proficiency in oral and written communication.

    A strong aptitude for working with smartphones, mobile devices, and cameras.

    Computer and keyboard proficiency, including internet navigation and email.

    Proficiency in using mobile applications.

    Additional Eligibility Requirements

    Valid driver’s license.

    Reliable vehicle in excellent condition.

    Personal vehicle insurance.

    Smartphone (iPhone preferred).

    High-speed internet service.

    Compensation

    This is a full-commission (1099 Contractor) position. The average Field Reporting Specialist earns between $60,000 and $100,000 annually, with earning potential directly related to work volume and willingness to accept occasional Saturday or overnight travel assignments. Hotel expenses for approved overnight travel are covered.
