Position Summary
The Fifth Grade Teacher serves as both an educator and spiritual mentor, committed to academic excellence and the development of a biblical worldview in students. This role involves delivering engaging instruction, fostering a Christ-centered classroom environment, and partnering with families to support each child’s intellectual and spiritual growth.
Reports To: Middle School Principal
Primary Responsibilities
Support the mission and vision of the school by integrating Christian faith and biblical principles into all aspects of teaching and student interaction.
Identify short- and long-term instructional needs; contribute insight and recommendations to school leadership; implement school policies and directives.
Develop and adapt lesson plans and course objectives in alignment with curriculum standards and the school’s Christian philosophy of education.
Deliver engaging, age-appropriate instruction using a variety of methods, including demonstrations, discussions, hands-on activities, and technology.
Plan, assign, and evaluate instructional activities to ensure students meet academic requirements and expand their ability to think critically and independently.
Assess student learning through tests, ongoing observations projects, and hands on activities and assignments; provide timely, constructive feedback to support academic progress.
Foster a positive classroom environment by mentoring, coaching, and disciplining students in a manner consistent with biblical values.
Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and student conduct.
Establish and enforce classroom procedures that promote respect, safety, and responsibility in all settings (classroom, hallways, playground, etc.).
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, needs, and concerns; provide guidance and resources when appropriate.
Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local education laws and school policies.
Model Christ-like character in speech, actions, and relationships within the school and broader community.
Collaborate with grade level teachers and Director of Curriculum and Instruction to support student success.
Actively contribute to the spiritual development of students by teaching and reinforcing the school’s Statement of Faith and encouraging students to apply biblical truths in daily life.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field OR Ohio Non-Tax Teaching Certificate
Valid state teaching license (e.g., ODE) and/or ACSI certification (or willingness to obtain)
A personal commitment to the Christian faith and ability to integrate faith into teaching
Agreement with and commitment to uphold the school’s Statement of Faith
Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning preferred
