Events Director
II. Job Summary
As the Events Director, you will be instrumental in promoting the club’s facilities for private and member events. Your role involves guiding members and clients in Venue/Space utilization and planning, food and beverage choices, developing contracts, and overseeing the planning, billing, and execution of events. Collaborate with all departments to ensure exceptional experiences that surpass our members’ expectations.
III. Key Responsibilities
· Promote Club event facilities to members and clients.
· Conduct sales conversations, create proposals for unique experiences that keep the members coming back for more.
· Offer clubhouse tours and recommend facility usage options.
· Balance private events with member facility access and club-sponsored programming along with regular operations
· Book and oversee a variety of events, including but not limited to private events, banquets, meetings, wedding receptions, conferences, member events.
· Creating and handling of all aspects of the Banquet and Event Order (BEO) process
· Coordinate and communicate the details of all private events and member special events on a timely basis to all key staff and third-party vendors.
· Carefully supervises to help assure proper service, including all direct service when necessary.
IV. Qualifications
· Prior experience in event coordination, catering, and/or private dining sales.
· Collaborative, pleasant, and positive demeanor.
· Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office products, quick learner of club management software (JONAS)
· Highly organized, efficient, and detail oriented.
· Hospitality-driven attitude to problem-solving
· Excellent time management skills
· Comfortable in all staff environments with an all-hands-on-deck approach when required.
· Committed to exceed expectations by creating total sensory experiences for our members and their guests.

VIII. Club Overview
Figure Eight Island Yacht Club is a unique club located on a small private island on the coast near Wilmington, NC. Homeowners are treated to a breathtaking view as they cross the swing bridge to the island.
Formed in 1983, Figure Eight Island Yacht Club is located on twenty-three acres nestled into the coastal landscaping. The Clubhouse overlooks it’s marina and surrounding marshland.
Club amenities include a junior Olympic size swimming pool, poolside dining, a la carte dining, tennis courts, youth activities, marina, with wonderful views of the marsh and waterways.
While open year-round, the club has two distinct seasons. The summer season is Memorial Day through Labor Day. During the summer season, the club is alive with activity. In the fall, winter, and spring, the club operates on a modified schedule with a very active wedding related business in the spring and fall.
The Club is available to members for their special gatherings such as weddings, rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, bridal luncheons, and baby showers. Holidays and weekends bring many families and friends to Figure Eight Island. Our celebrations include New Year’s Eve, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving.
