    Job Description

    Successful law firm seeks a full-time File Clerk for our St. Louis, MO office. This position requires a motivated, detailed, organized professional capable of functioning in a fast-paced, challenging legal environment.

    Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Position Summary:

    Our clerks perform various clerical duties, including handling mail, faxing, using a copy machine, maintaining a calendar, and operating office equipment. Clerks are also requested to assist with answering phones, transferring calls, etc. In addition to clerical duties, clerks may also be required to make deliveries and pickups within the downtown St. Louis area. This is primarily a sedentary role, but a potential candidate should be able to lift up to 50 pounds for duties assigned occasionally.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Responsible for requesting and logging medical records with oversight of attorney team, including preparing medical and other authorizations; communicating with opposing law firms; communicating with medical providers and other parties to secure requested documents; obtaining prepayments and requesting payment of any invoices in order to obtain requested documentation.
    • IME (Independent Medical Evaluation) scheduling. This includes providing case information to designated physicians in order to obtain an evaluation date and payment information; preparation of letters advising appropriate parties of the appointment.
    • Deposition Scheduling and Coordinating.
    • Maintaining filing as required including emails in the proper location/files.
    • Daily docketing including assisting with mail and electronic notices received.
    • Requesting Subpoenas and following up on Subpoena requests to obtain medical records, if required.
    • Printing and gathering file materials for new files and existing files.
    • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required; associate or bachelor's degree helpful.
    • 0-5 years of experience supporting a legal office or working in the legal industry.
    • Background in the medical field helpful.
    • Microsoft Word and Outlook experience required; Excel and PowerPoint experience preferred.
    • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
    • Excellent communication and proofreading skills.
    • Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
    • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent organization, planning, attention to detail, and dependability.
    • Firm and client confidentiality required.
