    Job Description

    **THIS JOB IS ONSITE FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS:
    SAN JOSE, CA
    BOTHELL, WA
    AUSTIN, TX
    POTENTIALLY LOS ANGELES **

    Today’s Map Design System was primarily designed to be viewed and interacted with in a 2D environment. As online maps evolves to include dierent 3D views and rendering styles such as photoreal, this project aims to extend existing 2D map design system to include 3D and photoreal suaces (such as Street View and Immersive View).

    This project primarily requires expeise in 3D, motion, interaction, and UI design in order to design, iterate, and nalize 3D models, animations, and transitions between various map viewpos and user journeys. This will entail extending the existing UI design system (such as map pins, street labels, and callouts) to 3D and photoreal viewpos, identifying key emerging challenges (e.g. positioning, legibility, and camera movement), solving these constraints alongside multiple design, product, and engineering teams, and aiculating nal specs across web and mobile plaorms.

    As an interaction and 3D/motion designer on the map, you’ll be working closely with a cross-functional team in order to evolve and envision how the map looks and behaves as it transitions between 2D, 3D, and photoreal (Satellite, Street View, Immersive View) maps in order to develop a shared perspective and spec on a 3D map design system.

    • Evolve the design of caographic elements from 2D to 3D with input from designers and engineers while maintaining brand consistency

    • Identify and evaluate use cases, and deliver design solutions with global audiences, data quality, and capabilities in mind

    • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to gather feedback, provide thoughul solutions and iterations

    • Clearly aiculate and communicate design challenges and rationale behind solutions at various stages of the process with desk research, motion mocks, prototypes, and presentations

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 4 years working experience as an interaction designer, motion/3D designer, game designer, or visual designer

    • BA or BS in Design (including graphic design, 3D/motion design/computer graphics, human-computer interaction, architecture, or related eld)

    • Fluent with design tools (Figma, Maya/Blender/C4D, Aer Eects)

    • Tactical hands-on design capabilities

    • Strong understanding of design fundamentals (typography, layout, information

    hierarchy)

    • Excellent communication & collaboration skills

    Additional Information

    The anticipated salary range for this position is $94,000-$153,000. Salary is based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other factors permitted by law.
