  • Responsibilities

    As a Financial Advisor with New York Life, you will build your own practice within the company, advising individuals and businesses on financial strategies and solutions. You will help clients assess their financial goals, recommend appropriate insurance, investment, and retirement products, and guide them toward long-term financial health. You’ll be in business for yourself—but supported by the resources, training, and infrastructure of a Fortune 100 company. Responsibilities: • Meet with clients to understand their financial goals, risk tolerance, income, expenses, assets/liabilities, and life circumstances • Develop customized financial plans covering investments, retirement, tax strategies, insurance, education funding, estate planning, and cash flow management • Recommend appropriate financial products (e.g., mutual funds, stocks, bonds, insurance, annuities) in line with client objectives • Monitor and review client portfolios regularly; make adjustments as needed • Stay current on market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes • Generate new business through referrals, networking, outreach, and prospecting • Provide educational seminars, workshops, or content (e.g,. webinars, articles) to clients or prospects • Prepare financial reports, performance summaries, and periodic reviews • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, licensing, and firm policies • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., operations, compliance) to provide seamless client service Qualifications: While no direct finance degree is required, successful advisors typically have: • Business mindset • Self-discipline and goal orientation Licensing : • State Life & Health Insurance License (required before selling insurance) • FINRA Series 6/7 and 63/66 (required for investment products) – often sponsored by New York Life • Deep knowledge of investments, insurance, retirement, tax, estate planning strategies, and risk management • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills Compensation: $80,000 - $120,000
