    Job Description

    A Financial Aid Officer evaluates, approves, and awards financial aid to students in accordance with federal, state, and university regulations, policies, and operating guidelines. Assesses the financial needs of students, and advises students and parents regarding financial aid options, processes, and requirements. Evaluates student academic progress, and adjudicates academic progress appeals. Participates as appropriate in systems/procedures planning and management; implements and coordinates specific individual programs and/or assignments, in accordance with the overall objectives of the department.

    Responsibilities

    • Be knowledgeable about all Title IV policies and procedures for institutions of higher education.
    • Process Title IV applications accurately.
    • Maintain accurate and secure student files.
    • Identify students who have not yet turned in their financial aid or loan applications for the current award year and follow up with them regularly.
    • Determine disbursement periods according to the school calendar and program length.
    • Keep abreast of new rules and regulations affecting federal student financial aid programs offered at the school.
    • Familiarize students with the various financial aid options available at the institution as well as the eligibility requirements in each case.
    • Explain the following steps to the students: (1) payment schedule of approved loan; (2) payment plans in the event the financial aid does not cover the full tuition; (3) policies in effect affecting disbursements, such as satisfactory academic progress, withdrawals, etc.; (4) financial obligations in the event financial aid is not approved for the total amount requested; and (5) disbursement of remaining funds to the student, if any, once he/she completes the program.
    • Record the type of financial aid received by the student as well as the date when the funds were approved.
    • Ensure all information is accurate before reporting it. Otherwise, make the necessary corrections before submission.
    • Enter student information in various software.
    • Perform other assigned duties as needed.

    The mission of Beauty Academy of South Florida is to offer quality education in beauty industry-related vocational education programs utilizing a well-planned curriculum and experienced instructors through a teaching approach that serves as a professional model for the students. The objective is to prepare students to obtain a career in the beauty industry to enable them to pass the State Board exams successfully and to be successful in the workplace.
