    Financial Aid and Veteran Services Outreach Specialist:

    Role: Serves as the primary Financial Aid and Veteran services representative of Grayson College through outreach activities both on and off campus, as well as community events. Develops and maintains relationships with service area High School Counselors, Principals, and Educators to assist in the recruiting process. Advises students and parents through the financial aid process from application to disbursement of various funds.

    The salary range for this position is $18.69 to $28.03 per hour.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    40% - Develops and delivers presentations, seminars, and workshops on financial aid and veteran services as part of recruitment efforts for the Texoma Promise program, while marketing these services through on-campus, off-campus, community, and high school events. Regular travel for outreach events required. Advise students and parents on the financial aid process and application challenges through various communication methods.

    20% Assists students and parents with completing documents, and communicates and follows up with students, parents, and High School Counselors for FAFSA completion requirements.

    10% Processes paper and electronic documents and make necessary FAFSA data corrections in order to complete verification and award aid. Process incoming loan request forms and change requests.

    10% Award institutional financial aid, including tuition waivers and exemptions to students.

    10% Annual review and update of email templates, institutional forms, and outreach projects for prospective and returning students.

    5% Attends federal financial aid training, workshops, seminars, and conferences in order to maintain current knowledge of financial aid requirements and regulations.

    5% Performs other duties as assigned.

    Serves as a positive role model to prospective and current students.

    Works independently to handle multiple assignments and projects with limited supervision. .

    Qualifications:

    Experience: Six months to two years of similar or related experience.

    Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for the purpose of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

    Other Skills: One to two years of experience in financial aid or related field is preferred. Decision-making, problem-solving and attention to detail are a must. Excellent customer service skills and strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Provides a high level of service to the community and local High Schools.

    Physical Requirements: Office work is typically sedentary. However, the job requires the ability to travel by vehicle to off campus events and activities. Setup of events and participating may require walking, standing, bending, and moderate lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds.

    Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office. Off campus work may require work outdoors or work at local high school and community partner sites.
