The City University of New York’s Office of Treasury Management (OTM) plays a critical role in the University’s operations by overseeing four key financial areas: Bursar, Cash Management, Payment Card Industry Compliance, and Student Financial Aid Operations.
The Student Financial Aid Operations unit seeks a dedicated individual for an entry-level temporary position. The role involves supporting CUNYfirst (PeopleSoft) processing, including centralized financial aid disbursements, reconciliation for federal aid programs, student refunds, and Federal Work-Study (FWS) payroll activities. The position will ensure compliance with federal, state, city, and institutional guidelines while facilitating quality customer service, timely payments, and accurate recordkeeping.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist in weekly reconciliation of Title IV funds, refunding, and FWS payroll.
• Support the department in executing and managing weekly disbursement drawdowns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant guidelines.
• Coordinate funding and update CUNYfirst for scholarships and grants.
• Execute and analyze queries related to financial aid and student account processes.
• Communicate with college staff via email, phone, or Microsoft Teams.
• Update reference documentation for staff and review materials for colleges.
• Address ACH payment rejections or corrections and update CUNYfirst accounts.
• Process undelivered refunds and returned checks.
• Assist with notifications of outstanding checks and stop payment processes.
• Support federal work-study activities, coordinating with colleges and university staff across CUNYfirst modules.
• Assist with Form 1098-T Tuition Statement activities and related college inquiries.
• Troubleshoot student and college financial aid inquiries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with CUNYfirst (PeopleSoft) or similar ERP systems is preferred.
• Proficient with the latest software, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Experience in financial aid, bursar, or administrative operations.
• Working knowledge of financial aid Title IV regulations and programs.
