Position Summary
The Financial Analyst plays a key role in supporting the financial health, strategic decision-making, and operational efficiency of Dolly's Life of Many Colors Museum's core business segments: The museum itself and its ticketing operation, two retail stores, and a robust special events organization. This position is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analytics across all divisions. The Analyst will collaborate closely with department heads to provide actionable insights, identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings, and ensure financial alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Analytics and Reporting
- Prepare and analyze weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the museum, retail, and events divisions.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop dashboards tracking attendance, per capita spending, ticket analytics, margins, and event profitability.
- Conduct variance analysis to budget and prior periods, providing explanations and recommendations.
- Budgeting and Forecasting
* Support the annual budget development process across all business units.
* Create financial models to forecast revenue, expense, and cash flow scenarios.
* Collaborate with department leaders to ensure accurate and achievable financial projections.
- Operational Insights
* Partner with the museum, retail, and special events teams to evaluate operational efficiency and identify performance improvement opportunities.
* Analyze product, pricing, and sales data to optimize merchandise performance, ticket performance, and event profitability.
* Support cost-benefit analysis for new initiatives, programming, and capital projects.
- Internal Controls and Compliance
* Ensure financial practices adhere to organizational policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.
* Assist with audits, reporting, and compliance documentation as needed.
- Strategic Support
* Provide data-driven recommendations to leadership for strategic planning and investment decisions.
* Contribute to business cases, feasibility studies, and operational reviews supporting long-term sustainability.
Qualifications
- Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial analytics, preferrably in a multi-unit or multi-departmental environment (e.g. hospitality, retail, attractions, or entertainment).
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a proven ability to synthesize data into actionable insights.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, financial modeling, etc.) and familiarity with accounting/ERP systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Preferred
* Experience in museum, attractions, retail, or events management environments.
* Knowledge of point-of-sale, inventory control, ticketing or event management systems and how they integrate with financial data.
* Experience in using data visualization or business intelligence tools.
