Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Financial Analyst.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting in financial analysis, reporting and monitoring of the overall financial performance and effectiveness of a defined group of departments at the health system. The Financial Analyst (FA) will be tasked with understanding the revenues, expenses, and accounting structure of these departments across the Clinical, Research and Education Missions, as well as their core departmental and/or corporate operations. Success in this role relies as much on technical knowledge as it does on communication skills, as the FA will be reporting dually to Central Finance (primary) and Departmental Leadership, specifically maintaining a very close working relationship with the appropriate Departmental Administrator, staff and faculty within those departments, often taking directives from both Finance & Department leadership. This position reports directly to the manager or director in the FINCORE (Finance Core) team.
Job Responsibilities:
* Monitor budgets on a monthly basis, confirm accuracy and conduct variance and trend analysis of actual vs. budget and actual vs. prior periods, and communicate results with departmental and finance leadership.
* Prepare reporting packages and financial templates with detailed analysis based on requirements from leadership.
* Help develop and implement finance goals and metrics related to financial management of the departments, program development, and related operational, staffing and financial issues that arise.
* Prepare forecasts to measure year-to-date activity against full-year budgets, and assist faculty and other senior leadership with operational and strategic planning with relevant financial data.
* Monitor personnel allocations across accounts and, at times, direct appropriate staff to process required changes.
* Review and investigate departmental financial transactions, as well as book journal entries, both requiring a familiarity with general accounting standards.
* Ensure compliant use of all funding sources including philanthropy, and recommend and implement changes to maintain balanced accounts and help resolve funding overages when necessary.
* Assist in developing short and long term departmental annual budgets including historical analysis and future projections.
* Help identify errors using existing reporting and propose reporting enhancements as needed.
* Review all financial transactions, to threshold, for each mission area and within core departmental operations to ensure financial compliance and alignment with the budget.
* Provide ad-hoc financial analysis for special projects.
* Develop and maintain productive working relationships with the necessary corporate teams to address relevant issues and process improvement. This includes Financial Planning & Analysis, Chief of Staff Office, Office of Science and Research (OSR), Education Faculty and Academic Affairs (EFAA), Faculty Group Practice (FGP), Hospital Finance and Medical Center IT (MCIT) across both the Schools of Medicine and the Hospital.
* Contribute energetically to an environment of effective financial reporting and analysis, time management and prioritization, compliance with regulations, and adoption of leading practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree in business, finance, or other appropriate discipline with at least 2-3 years of relevant financial experience, or a combination of comparable education and experience.
Understanding of accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with a diverse group of faculty and staff, and interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Enterprise Systems. PeopleSoft or Oracle preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $79,500.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
