JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Financial Analyst provides financial and analytical support to Howard University Hospital. This support includes financial and operational analysis to support key management initiatives, capital and operational budgeting; labor productivity analyses; service line and margin analyses; long-term planning; and responding to ad-hoc requests as necessary. The Senior Financial analyst should exhibit HUH CARES values, produce high quality deliverables in a timely manner with clear and concise communication and be accountable to the work product.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ad-hoc financial analyses, including proformas, long-term plans, and other requests assigned. Evaluation of Capital requests to understand ROI as well as service line analytics. - 50%
• Annual budget preparation and monthly reconciliation - 20%
• Day-to-day financial support, including AP, payroll and general financial support to leaders and staff - 10%
• Entity financial analyses, including month-end financial review and reconciliation - 10%
• Act as Liaison between HUH, HU and FPP - 5%
• Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and are not to be considered as all-inclusive. - 5%
• The incumbent normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and receives general instructions on new assignments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• EDUCATION - Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or Healthcare Administration from an accredited college or university required. MBA or master’s degree preferred.
• EXPERIENCE - Five (5) years’ work experience in financial management or decision support within an Acute Care Facility for the Senior FA.
• CPA PREFERRED
• Ability to perform highly technical financial analysis
• Working knowledge of Acute Care hospital operations
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other MS Office products
• Experience managing and completing annual budgeting process including volume, revenue and expense
• Ability to work independently and productively in a fast-paced environment
• Accountability in producing high quality and timely work products
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills
• Must have a strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Standards (GAAP)
• Ability to plan and coordinate projects from start to finish, set and meet objectives, budgets and deadlines
