Responsibilities:
- Financial Oversight: Manage all aspects of the firm’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
- Accounting Management: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and payroll.
- Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including trust accounting rules, and coordinate with external auditors during financial audits.
- Financial Strategy: Develop and implement financial strategies to optimize profitability, control expenses, and enhance overall financial performance.
- Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to firm leadership, providing clear analysis and insights to support decision-making.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring the department runs efficiently and effectively.
- Cost Control: Monitor and manage firm expenses, identifying areas for cost reduction and improved financial efficiency.
Requirements:
- Experienced Professional: 5+ years of experience in financial management, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master’s degree is a huge PLUS!
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management experience, with the ability to guide and develop a finance team.
- Analytical Mindset: Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make strategic recommendations.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency in financial software and accounting systems, including QuickBooks, Excel, and legal billing software.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, especially regarding trust accounting and compliance.
- Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders within the firm.
