    We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to join our team. The Controller will manage a portfolio of client companies, oversee all aspects of their accounting operations, and supervise a bookkeeper to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across financial activities. This role is ideal for a proactive finance professional who thrives in a client-facing environment and enjoys helping small and mid-sized businesses succeed.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the month-end close process and preparation of accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) for multiple client companies.

    • Manage and oversee general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and journal entries, ensuring completeness and compliance with GAAP.

    • Supervise, mentor, and review the work of a bookkeeper to ensure consistent quality and adherence to accounting standards.

    • Partner directly with client leadership to provide financial insights, forecasts, and recommendations that support business decisions and growth.

    • Develop and manage budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis for assigned clients.

    • Oversee implementation and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard client assets and ensure audit readiness.

    • Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax professionals, and other advisors on behalf of clients.

    • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and financial reporting efficiency for both clients and the internal team.

    • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, building strong relationships through proactive communication and reliable financial guidance.

    • Collaborate with other Impact CFO Services team members to ensure consistency, accuracy, and high-quality service delivery across the client portfolio.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation strongly preferred.

    • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior Controller or senior-level accounting role.

    • Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements and deliver results in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

    • Strong technical accounting knowledge with proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.

    • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising or mentoring staff.

    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

    • Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

    • Client-service mindset with a collaborative, professional approach.
