We are a growing property management company overseeing a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial assets. Our focus is on strong financial performance, accurate reporting, and disciplined growth. We are seeking a Controller to own the financial side of the business and provide reliable, audit-ready financials across all entities.

    Position Overview

The Controller is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting. This role is focused strictly on accounting and financial management—not operations. The ideal candidate will ensure that all financials, trust accounts, and reporting processes are clean, compliant, and dependable.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Reporting & Close

Lead the monthly close process across all entities and properties

Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)

Ensure all accounts are reconciled accurately and on time

Deliver consistent, reliable financial reporting to ownership

    Trust Accounting & Compliance

Oversee all trust accounting functions (tenant funds, security deposits, owner funds)

Ensure compliance with all applicable property management accounting standards

    Maintain audit-ready records and documentation

Serve as point of contact for audits or financial reviews

    General Ledger Oversight

Maintain accurate general ledger across multiple entities

Review journal entries and ensure proper coding of all transactions

Standardize and maintain chart of accounts

    Cash Management & Forecasting

Monitor and report on company and trust cash positions

Forecast cash flow and anticipate funding needs

Coordinate owner distributions and reserve balances

    A/P and A/R Oversight

Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes

Ensure accuracy in rent collections, vendor payments, and financial records

    Identify and resolve discrepancies

    Systems & Controls

Maintain and improve accounting systems such as AppFolio and QuickBooks

Implement and enforce internal financial controls

    Document and standardize accounting procedures

    Qualifications

5+ years of accounting experience (property management experience strongly preferred)

Strong understanding of trust accounting (required)

    Experience with multi-entity accounting structures

Proficiency in AppFolio, QuickBooks, or similar systems

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities

CPA or accounting degree is preferred but not required

    What Success Looks Like

Financials are delivered accurately and on time every month

Trust accounts are fully reconciled and compliant

Owner statements go out without corrections

Leadership can rely on financial reporting without rechecking work
