    Job Summary:

    The Financial Planning Team's goal is to be an extension of our Member Offices' individual on-site teams and/or a reliable 3rd party consulting team to assist advisors with their financial planning needs. In this back-office role, you will develop expertise in the various aspects of Valmark's proprietary financial planning processes as well as general financial planning conversations. As a Financial Planning Intern, you will be responsible for assisting onsite and nationwide financial professionals with their day-to-day workflow.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Develop a mastery of Valmark’s financial planning and investment philosophy
    • Establish a fundamental knowledge of accumulation planning, retirement planning, and estate planning
    • Understand financial instruments such as ETFs, mutual funds, life insurance, and annuities
    • Provide support with initial plan development, recommendations, and ongoing revisions
    • Prepare investment management and annuity proposals to support case design
    • Update current and creating new advisor-facing and client-facing material
    • Assist with financial planning research in a constantly changing environment

    Requirements:

    Must be currently enrolled in college seeking a degree in Business Administration and/or Finance are preferred, but not required. Must be available to commit 15-25 hours per week during the spring/fall semesters and 25-40 hours per week during the summer months. Candidates should also be willing to obtain relevant industry licenses and professional designations, namely the CFP® marks, either during college or post-graduation.
