Job Title: Financial Services Litigation Attorney
Location: Tampa, FL (Full-time, In-Office)
Job Description:
Our client, a reputable law firm based in Tampa, FL, is seeking an experienced Financial Services Litigation Attorney to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of litigation experience with a focus on financial services, including consumer protection laws and banking regulations. The firm’s caseload includes both state and federal court cases as well as AAA arbitration forums.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in complex financial services litigation, including defending consumer claims and disputes.
- Advise clients on compliance with financial services regulations and resolve matters related to consumer protection laws.
- Defend clients in cases involving laws such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act (FCCPA), Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA), Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) rules, wire fraud, and other general banking operations.
- Handle matters in both state and federal court, as well as in arbitration forums like AAA.
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and briefs, and represent clients in hearings, depositions, and trials.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys, clients, and experts to develop case strategy and provide high-quality legal counsel.
- Manage a caseload efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met and client expectations are exceeded.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- 5+ years of litigation experience with a focus on financial services law and consumer protection.
- Experience in defending claims under relevant consumer protection laws (e.g., FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA, etc.).
- Strong litigation skills, including trial experience, and proficiency in handling state and federal court matters and arbitration proceedings.
- Knowledge of banking operations, financial regulations, and related legal frameworks.
- Portable business is a plus but not required.
- Active Florida Bar membership in good standing.
