    Job Description

    The Mortgage Loan Officer will originate and close real estate loans in accordance with federal guidelines and established lending objectives, policies and procedures; establish and maintain positive relationships with existing and potential customers.

    DUTIES

    Interview mortgage applicants, analyzing and screening preliminary loan requests.

    Gather and analyze financial information such as:

    • Assets such as bank statements, retirement accounts, brokerage accounts
    • Perform income analysis on personal and business tax returns, rental income, and paystubs
    • Determine eligibility of other income such as, retirement benefits, pensions, disability income

    Assists processors and members with duties such as:

    • completion of mortgage disclosures
    • AUS findings
    • letters of explanations
    • review earnest money contract
    • order and review of title packet
    • order and review of verifications of employments, mortgages, or deposits
    • order homeowner insurance
    • clear underwriting conditions and information requests
    • assist applicant with resolutions of discrepancies on loan application
    • address and resolves complaints relating to loan products and services offered

    Examine entire loan file to determine pre-qualification and credit worthiness. Submission of complete mortgage loan packet for processing and underwriting.

    Compiles loan package and facilitates negotiation with applicant according to established standards, such as fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms.  Refers loan to underwriting for approval and monitors progress of loans from the loan application to loan closing. 

    Establish and maintain positive working relationships with realtors, brokers, builders, CPA’s, attorneys and other organizations to provide information regarding the lending programs and policies.

    Participate in the Credit Union's business development activities, represent the Credit Union in industry and professional associations, community organizations, local business groups, etc., and promote the Credit Union's favorable image.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent.  At least one year prior experience as a Mortgage Officer or  three years experience in a mortgage lending environment.
