    Job Description

    CREDIT UNION IN DOWNTOWN DALLAS IS LOOKING FOR A CONSUMER LOAN OFFICER TO PROCESS AND UNDERWRITE LOANS in accordance with established lending policies and procedures, examines, evaluates, and authorizes or recommends approval of member applications for lines or extension of lines of credit, secured or unsecured consumer loans, credit card accounts, and other loan products that meet the established lending criteria and are within approved lending limits.  

    Provides a variety of service functions, including sales and servicing all credit union products and services, and member inquiries in a professional manner.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Interviews members and analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine credit worthiness of member and feasibility of granting loan request.
    • Corresponds with applicant or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.
    • Responsible for making lending decisions based on Credit Union loan policies.
    • Responsible for advising member of loan approval/denial.   Explores options for members when loans are denied.
    • Coordinates preparation and mailing of credit denial notices.
    • Responsible for coordination and/or completion of loan closing and disbursements, including the processing of all necessary documents.
    • Responsible for all auto loan payoff information and consistently cross sells the credit union’s products and services to the member.
    • Actively promotes loans to members in accordance with the credit union’s solicitation programs, including letters, telephone solicitation, mailing of brochures and other prescribed activity to solicit business from former and prospective borrowers.
    • Actively contacts all members listed on the monthly loan recapture report by phone and/or mail.
    • Responds to routine member inquiries regarding all credit union products, services, and requirements.
    • Interviews members to obtain information and explain available financial services, such as loans, savings and checking accounts, IRA accounts, Term Share certificates, Club accounts, electronic delivery systems, rates, etc.
    • Responds to member inquiries regarding the operation of accounts, account discrepancies and assisting members to make the most effective usage of service offerings.
    • Performs various other member service functions that might be needed from time to time and assists others to complete tasks and work assignments.
    • Operates PC to accurately access account information, process loans, update member account information, and open accounts if needed.
    • Responsible for the lending decisions on the monthly renewal of all MasterCard accounts.
    • Continually stays abreast of all credit union products and service features, advantages and benefits and consistently cross sells to prospective and current members.
    • Follows all policies and procedures regulated by the credit union as well as governmental policies and procedures.
    • Maintains awareness of changing trends and regulations that might effect the department.  Attends various training sessions to keep up to date on new products and services and to remain knowledgeable on Federal regulations and internal policies and procedures.
    • Represents the credit union in contacts in industry and community functions, with the membership, vendors, trade associations and regulatory agencies as needed.
    • Performs various other associated duties as assigned or required to ensure efficient operation of the Loan Department.

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Two to five years of general lending experience from a credit union or other financial institution, CREDIT UNION preferred. 
    • Ability to speak effectively with borrowers and other employees in the organization.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as credit bureau reports, debt to income ratio reports and policy and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to interpret and understand regulations affecting lending programs

    COMPENSATION:  $40K + a comprehensive benefits package.
