    Job Description

    Manage credit union’s collections activities. In compliance with state and federal regulations, ensure efficient collection of delinquent loans and obtain maximum recovery of losses due to repossession, charge off, and foreclosure.

    Essential Duties

    • Manage all phases of the collections process.
    • Establish and monitor effective control procedures for late and/or delinquent, or potentially delinquent loans and share accounts.
    • Make collection calls on behalf of the credit union, for both loans and negative shares.
    • Coordinate payment transfers, ACH setup for recovery, and ensure funds are repaid. Use right of offset as needed, if available, and within policy.
    • Skip trace members when they cannot be located.
    • Send all required credit union correspondence in effort to collect funds due to the credit union.
    • Review and recommend all accounts to be charged off and/or referred to outside agencies for recovery.
    • Negotiate formal recovery and collection arrangements in cases of fraud.
    • Stay abreast of federal, state, and collection industry rules, regulations, and trends.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Five or more years’ experience managing a portfolio for collection, with an emphasis on consumer loans. Knowledge of FCRA, repossession guidelines, state/federal collection rules and regulations required.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills required. High emotional intelligence and the art of persuasion are assets for this role.
    • Strong attention to detail, time management, and follow-up skills are musts.
    • Patience, tact, and the ability to build rapport with members will be keys to success in this role.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; experience with skip-tracing software is a huge plus.
    • Tech-savviness a must along with a proven ability to learn new software platforms easily.
    • Exceptional member service skills and a “member first” attitude required.
    • The ability to think critically while working both independently and as part of a team is required.
    • Knowledge of credit union practices, culture, rules, and regulations highly desirable.
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
    • Ability to work off-hours with occasional evenings, weekends, and/or holidays

    Compensation: $48-58K
