    Scientist - Bioprocess Development Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States Full-time About Finch Finch is unlocking the therapeutic potential of the microbiome via a human-first drug discovery platform. We support clinical studies that intentionally manipulate the microbiome to investigate causality in diseases that are otherwise poorly understood. Using high-throughput molecular data from clinical studies and ex-vivo experiments, we identify specific strains that drive clinical phenotypes and responses to microbial therapies. Position Summary We are currently seeking a Scientist to develop microbial fermentation processes for our RSM platform. This position reports to the Associate Director of Bioprocess Development Responsibilities * Identify, procure and establish high throughput systems to allow media optimization * Design and develop scalable fermentation processes for variety of microbial strains * Work closely with senior management team to initiate new projects * Work with the in-house or CRO Manufacturing and Quality teams and support tech-transfer activities * Effectively communicates results of departmental work to other parts of the organization both verbally and in writing Qualifications * The successful candidate will have an advanced degree (e.g. Ph.D.) in Science, preferably microbiology, with an outstanding academic and research record * A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant industry experience * Broad technical expertise with microbial fermentation and filtration technologies * Demonstrated experience with the complexity of microbiome ecosystems, isolation, and propagation of relevant strains from such communities is required * Proven experience in media optimization and developing scalable downstream production processes including but not limited to bioreactor setup and operations * Direct experience working with scalable single use technologies and/or strict anaerobes is a huge plus * Working knowledge of CMC regulatory requirements for biological pharmaceutical products as well as practical application of principles of QbD is preferred * Outstanding at problem solving and applying creative innovative solutions to multifaceted problems and issues and a passion for working in a fast-paced and evolving organization More About Finch Here at Finch, we strive to create the best work environment and experience for you through our formal benefits programs and fringe perks.
