    Position Overview

    We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fine Art Instructor to provide structured online instruction and portfolio development guidance for middle and high school students pursuing visual arts, particularly those preparing for competitive BFA programs and art school admissions.

    This is a remote, part-time position with flexible scheduling based on enrollment needs.

    The ideal candidate specializes in one or more of the following disciplines: Painting, Drawing, Illustration (Fine Art–oriented), Printmaking, Sculpture, or Mixed Media.

    Key Responsibilities

    Deliver high-quality online fine art instruction in one or more core studio disciplines

    Guide students in developing cohesive portfolio series demonstrating conceptual research, artistic voice, and technical refinement

    Teach foundational skills including observational drawing, composition, perspective, value structure, color theory, and form

    Support conceptual development through theme exploration, critical thinking, and iterative project refinement

    Encourage material experimentation and cross-media exploration, including process documentation

    Provide structured critique and detailed, actionable feedback

    Assist students in preparing portfolios for BFA programs, art competitions, and specialized art high schools

    Communicate professionally with academic coordinators regarding student progress

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree (BFA) or higher in Fine Art, Studio Art, or a related field

    Minimum of 3 years of teaching or mentoring experience in fine art instruction

    Demonstrated experience guiding students in portfolio development

    Strong personal portfolio reflecting conceptual depth and technical proficiency

    Familiarity with art school portfolio standards and expectations

    Strong communication skills and ability to conduct constructive critique in an online setting

    Preferred Qualifications

    MFA degree or equivalent professional exhibition experience

    Experience preparing students for competitive BFA admissions

    Experience working with international students

    Bilingual ability (English and Mandarin preferred but not required)
