Position Summary:
The Fine Dining Server is responsible for providing an exceptional guest experience through professional, attentive, and personalized service. This role requires a high level of product knowledge, grace under pressure, and a refined sense of hospitality. The server ensures that each guest receives impeccable service, expertly presented food and beverages, and a memorable fine dining experience in alignment with the restaurant’s standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Service Excellence
Greet guests promptly, courteously, and professionally, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued.
Guide guests through the menu with detailed knowledge of ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation.
Make thoughtful wine and beverage recommendations; assist with pairings and descriptions.
Anticipate guest needs and deliver polished, attentive service throughout the dining experience.
Handle guest concerns and complaints with professionalism and discretion, escalating issues to management when necessary.
Order & Service Execution
Accurately take orders and enter them into the POS system in a timely manner.
Coordinate seamlessly with kitchen and bar staff to ensure correct timing and presentation of each course.
Serve food and beverages with precision and attention to fine dining etiquette.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of service stations, tables, and dining areas.
Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 20 lbs. for extended periods
Product Knowledge & Presentation
Maintain expert knowledge of the restaurant’s menu, wine list, spirits, and seasonal specials.
Understand and convey chef’s tasting notes, preparation techniques, and sourcing details to guests.
Stay up to date on new menu items, wine offerings, and service standards through regular staff trainings.
Team Collaboration
Support fellow servers and hosts to ensure seamless guest service.
Communicate effectively with kitchen and management teams to maintain service flow.
Participate in pre-shift meetings, briefings, and ongoing professional development.
Compliance & Standards
Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service regulations.
Follow fine dining service protocols including proper table setting, wine service, and order sequencing.
Maintain a polished personal appearance in accordance with restaurant dress code and grooming standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a server in a fine dining or upscale restaurant.
Strong understanding of fine dining etiquette, wine and spirits, and culinary terminology.
Excellent communication, multitasking, and guest relations skills.
Poised, professional demeanor with a passion for hospitality and guest satisfaction.
Knowledge of POS systems (e.g., Toast) preferred.
