The Shop Manager is integral to the ongoing success of the business. The responsibilities of the Shop Manager include creating and leading a cohesive team, assigning duties and schedules, guiding the team to meet production targets, and completing reporting information and administrative duties. The position requires 5 years + of knowledge, skill, and ability to perform intricate repairs, stone setting, and custom work using traditional and modern technological methods. The position requires the ability to balance teamwork and individual responsibility. Responsibilities: Shop Management • Plan, assign, and direct work. • Oversee all technical aspects of the shop. • Provide and oversee training and education for jewelers and sales associates. • Develop and maintain quality control standards and KPIs for the shop. • Maintain an adequate inventory of shop supplies. Perform annual physical inventory. Jewelry Repair, Restoration, and Fabrication • Complete customer and stock jobs to Michele and Company’s standards of quality control, including basic to advanced repairs. • Complete custom work according to detailed instructions and meet estimated deadlines. • Perform advanced stone setting, including but not limited to fancy shapes and colored gems, prongs, channels, and pavé. • CAD, 3-D Printing, and Engraving. Customer Experience • Inspects the job prior to starting work; alerts staff of any additional work that is needed. • Multitasks, prioritizes duties, and completes tasks in a timely manner. • Manages time well; schedules adequate time to complete work. • Completes jobs by the designated date. • Proactively communicates with sales associates and inventory control specialists, or sales managers, when issues arise. • Professionally interacts with associates and clients, as necessary. Operations • Manages all paperwork and documentation associated with repairs and shop inventory. • Keeps Goldsmith’s bench and shop neat, clean, and organized. • Participates in store meetings.
