    POSITION DESCRIPTION 

    As a Research Associate II, you will be responsible for running cell culture processes and performing cell characterization and differentiation assays. You will collaborate with the members of the cellular biology team. The successful candidate will utilize their knowledge in cell culture techniques, cell line maintenance, and histological and molecular assays. Salary and title will be commensurate with experience.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    As the Research Associate II you will be responsible for:

    • Perform cell culture techniques, including routine cell maintenance and growth

    • Research and implementation of new assays for cell characterization, such as PCR, Immunocytochemistry, Western Blot, Flow cytometry

    • Isolation and maintenance of new cultures isolated from animal sources

    • DOEs and high-throughput experiments for cell differentiation medium optimization

    • Analysis and interpretation of the data, presentation of findings to the supervisor, and suggestion of follow-up experiments

    • Communicate effectively and present work-related results to supervisor, project teams and all functional groups

    • Flexibility and willingness to expand skill set and responsibilities

    EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES

    • BS in cell biology or related field with 3+ years of experience, or MS in cell biology

    • Experience in routine cell culture techniques

    • Experience in maintenance of a variety of cell lines

    • Familiar with standard cell proliferation, viability, and differentiation assays

    • Experience in cell characterization assays such as Immunocytochemistry, Western Blot, PCR

    • Experience in molecular biology is desirable

    • Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable, efficient and detail-oriented

    • Familiarity with MS Office and statistical analysis software is desirable

    • Excellent communication skills, written and oral in English

    • Strong technical background and work ethic 

    • Great team player with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

    • Mission-driven and self-motivated, with excellent organization and time-management skills

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    This position involves working primarily in a laboratory setting. As such this position requires the ability to stand or sit at the bench, the ability to lift laboratory equipment up to 40 lbs, the use of standard laboratory equipment as well as computers and office equipment. The position requires communication with other individuals through a variety of methods.
