Intern-Fall/Winter 2018 Media Connect - New York, NY - Internship MEDIA CONNECT is looking for applicants with strong written and verbal skills with an interest in publishing and book publicity. A major in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Publishing, or English is preferred. You should be a creative, fast-thinker, able to handle multiple projects at once. DESCRIPTION: Publicity interns are offered the chance to participate at a publicity assistant level. We encourage you to take on responsibilities and handle work as you are able and interested. This is not a copy-making, coffee-fetching position. You will learn to the ins and outs of traditional media placement, book publishing, and digital publicity. MEDIA CONNECT provides trainings, workshops, and hands-on experience. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Working one-on-one with the media * Researching & compiling media lists * Phone/email pitching * Arranging media interviews * Writing press materials * Assembling client updates * Working with some of the biggest publishing houses in New York * Working with publicists of all levels, including the managing director of the company. (Each intern will be assigned a mentor, someone who will guide you through the internship and supply answers to all your questions.) * Working on a mix of topics including: Politics, Celebrity, Cooking, Family & Parenting, Health & Fitness, Business & Finance, and Fiction. DETAILS: Our fall internships typically begin in mid-August and lasts through December. Full-time and part-time applicants are considered (part-time applicants must be able to commit to three full days a week: 9:30am-5:30pm). The position is paid, and offers college credit if available through your program. The experience you will gain, along with the opportunity to include on your resume is extremely valuable.
