Job Description

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer/Systems Administrator Intern to help us architect and maintain our service level delivery and monitoring as a member of our Service Delivery DevOps team. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, articulate, and intimately familiar with Linux operating systems and software, provide sound proofs-of-concept, be willing to perform cross-functional duties as necessary, and have a proven history of creating tools and automating routine IT/Business tasks.

We've already invested in automating many parts of our service monitors and systems, but we're looking for you to help us make them even better! We're looking to improve our processes so our engineering, business, and operations teams can work smarter and faster.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Audit monitoring tools and existing monitors and alerts
• Use available tools to improve existing monitors
• Create new monitors and set thresholds to accurately identify failures
• Automate recovery steps to reduce service impact duration
• Document recovery procedures to allow mitigation without escalation

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

• A good knowledge of the Linux operating systems
• Ability to write basic scripting in Bash or Python
• Familiarity with operational procedure
• Good understanding of monitoring concepts 
• Ability to understand basic networking and troubleshooting
• Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing an undergraduate degree

• Strong technical and analytical skills
• Highly organized, able to multi-task, the ability to work individually, within a team, and with other groups
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written across all user levels
